Tilt level switches for solids

Operation Principle

The mechanical tilt level switch technology for bulk solids level measurement is the most simple, reliable, and economical solids level measurement technology on the market.  Mechanical tilt level switches are suitable for multiple applications such as grains, cereals, animal food, powders, and diverse bulk solids (pellets, stones, minerals, sawdust, etc.).

For this reason, ATMI has developed its range of SOLIBA tilt level switches designed to stop the filling of diverse storage zones, such as: grain silos, port silos, airport silos, storage bins, bulk storage, etc.

How does the SOLIBA tilt level switch work? The SOLIBA needs to be suspended vertically at the desired height. Once the flow of grain reaches the SOLIBA, its the microswitch inside will tilt at a switching angle of 10º. Likewise, the SOLIBA returns to its vertical position when the grain level decreases. See animated image on the left.

The SOLIBA operates in two steps:

1 - When the silo is being filled, the SOLIBA tilt level switch is suspended vertically
2 - When the high level is reached, the SOLIBA tilts and stops the filling of the silo

Please note that the SOLIBA must be installed at the opposite side of the arrival of grain and at a certain distance from the silo walls. This to ensure an optimal tilting operation. Watch out ! The manual filling of the silo may affect the proper functioning of the SOLIBA.

The SOLIBA tilt level switches can also be installed as high level alarm. They are in fact an ideal complement to other electronic level measurement devices such as rotating paddles, vibrating forks, radars, capacitive and ultrasonic sensors, etc.

Advantages

  • Enhanced resistance to dust
IP 6X. The operation of the SOLIBA tilt level switch is not affected even when the device is completely covered with dust, unlike other types of level measurement devices !
  • No maintenance needed
Thanks to their particular shape, no burial or clogging risk, no matter the density of the grain !
  • Energy saving
The SOLIBA tilt level switches only operate when the high level is reached !
  • Easy to install, easy to use
You just have to connect the SOLIBA to an electrical pannel.
